Wengen

Here’s a little update from Wengen.

Didn’t go as I hoped, but skied good in sections of the course and found myself in 31st position after the first run only 02/100 from qualifying to the second run. Bummer!  Well someone has to be 31st and in Wengen that was me. We’re now in Kirchberg getting ready for the slalom in Kitzbühel on Sunday and the slalom in Schladming on Tuesday. But before that the annual Westendorf FIS night slalom race tonight with most of the top 30 WC SL skiers at the start grid. Should be fun!

Here are some pics from Wengen. Enjoy and stay tuned!

We made history at Belp Airport

When we (all the FIS-racers in the chartered Airbus from Zagreb) landed at Belp Airport in Bern friday 6th January the airport was croweded with planespotters. How come? Well, now I know.

The FIS chartered Airbus A320 landing at Belp Airport, Bern.

It was the very first timen an Airbus A320 landed on Belp’s 1.500 meter runway.  Since this is the biggest plane allowed to land at and take off from this airport it was a huge happening at Belp.

The runway both looked and felt a bit short too, but we made history.

See for yourselves. Enjoy and stay tuned.

Going for it in Wengen, Kitzbuhl and Schladming

Not much to say about Adelboden. Nothing went according to plan as far as the skiing was concerned, but that is history now. Been there done that. Learned a lot.

After a few days with training in Hafjell with Peter and today in Kolsås with Martin I’m ready for the next classics. It is SL in Wengen this coming Sunday, the SL in Kitzbuhl next Sunday and the extraordinary night slalom in Schladming with up to 50.000 spectators gathering around the narrow race track. That is one out of this world experience. Excited and fired up.

Stay tuned.

Back in Zagreb

After my first Snow Queen race here in Zagreb last year, I’m back and ready for another night slalom. This is a great venue surrounded by the Croatian capital Zagreb. Its been really warm here the last week and its only snow in the hill so we can expect some challenging conditions, but I’m fired up to giv’er. I have been training good this christmas so I should have the foundation to perform.

Kjetil will be the first Viking out of the gate with bib 31 followed by Lars on bib 36, Truls 48 and myself with bib 50.

Follow the race from 3pm. Enjoy and stay tuned!

The tour is on again

We’re back in Paganella but this time it’s 2012. The new years celebration with family and friends in Hafjell was great and I now feel super ready to take on the new year. We made it down to Paganella yesterday and had our first day on snow again today. Unfortunately it dumped about 40cm of fresh snow so I should have brought my powder planks up to the hill instead. After about one and a half hour of course preparation we did get a few runs in.

We’re having another day of training down here tomorrow and then, Lars, Kjetil and I will head down to Zagreb where Truls Johansen also will join us for the Zagreb night slalom on Thursday. I’ve had a few very good days of slalom training this christmas so I feel ready to get back into race mode.

Here’s a few pics from today. Enjoy and stay tuned!
